Harshad Mata Temple Renovation

About 45 kms from Porbandar city, towards Dwarka there is an ancient temple of Goddess Harsiddhi Mata, popularly known as Harshad Mata. This Goddess is said to have blessed Lord Krishna when he wanted to conquer Jarasangha and other Asuras. Once the task was achieved, Lord Krishna himself built this holy temple around 5000 years before, in honour of the great Goddess.Since the Yadavas where overjoyed ( Harshit ) by their victory over the Asuras and Jarasangha, it is known as Harshad Mataji.

After a lot many years, Seth Jagdu Shah, a Baniya cast businessman,( Jain ) passed from here and was on the verge of getting looted when he prayed the holy goddess to help him. She saved him from getting looted and hence in 1300 AD, he renovated this temple, by the blessings of the Goddess. There are so many castes for whom, Harshad Mataji,is a Kuldevi. These include the Yadavas, Kshatriyas ( Darbars ),Brahmins,Jains etc.

Now this temple, located on the beautiful sea-shore, near village Miyani ( Porbandar district, Gujarat, India ) needs renovation and cleaning. The walls and the ceiling have been worn out. The floor is also quite old now. Apart from that the surrounding area of the temple, which is located on a mountain with around 250 steps, has become quite dirty because of the uncontrolled waste brought in here, by some pilgrims, who don't have the sense of maintaining the sanctity of a religious place like this. There is a lot of garbage spread around the temple, right from the top passing down the stairs to the bottom of the holy mountain. The situation rightnow looks as if "No one cares !" for such a great pilgrim resort where thousands flock in daily, during festivals like Navratri, Dasshera, Diwali holidays, Krishna Janmashthami etc. It is quite painful for the devotees to see their Mataji's holy abode in such a bad shape.

Any TRUE DEVOTEE of Harshad Mataji, would never want to see the temple in such a state. It needs renovation and maintenance with Immediate effect.

We are a group of devotees of Mataji, who wish to renovate the entire site into a beautiful place from the way in which it lies rightnow. We have all the required energy and time to do it, but we needs the leaders and the forerunners of the society to help us financially in this Noble Cause. The total budget for the renovation of this temple is assumed to be around Rs.500,000 ( half a million rupees or five lac rupees ). Kindly help us to rejuvenate the great spirit and renovate the temple and turn it into a beautiful tourist and pilgrim spot, which one can just dream about. 1. Under our agenda , there are three main things rightnow o: -- 1) to clean up the entire premises including the stairs which lead to the mountain, the surrounding area of the mountain top which is rightnow filled with debris and huge chunk of disposable waste like plastic rags, paper etc. 2) To make a beautiful gate at the bottom of the mountain and mainly to renovate the Temple within which include all its walls and ceiling which are in a bad shape as of now. the walls are carved and also is the ceiling... so this will cost a lot more than any other work.... 3) to establish a small Management office at the bottom ( Taleti ) where all the maintenance and management is handled on a regular daily basis.
